A Letter from our President

15 April 2020

From the President:

My name is Matt Cohen, and Herb and Marian Weston were my grandparents. Here at the foundation they established in 1999, we work to extend their lifetimes of effort preserving and enriching the natural life of the Great Plains region.

The onset of a global pandemic in 2020 once again reminds us of the fragility of life and the need to support those who are at risk. The plants, animals, rivers, and skies of this great land are no exception to that need. Animals have been abandoned from irrational fears, and the regulations protecting the purity of our air and water have been eroded. And while we may appreciate the pollution reduction brought about by mass sheltering at home, we should at the same time be reminded of just how far we have to go to make clear skies normal.

Our mission is to support groups that benefit animals, educate humans, and care for the environment. In approaching that task, we take a global view, but put an emphasis on the communities in which we live, and particularly on Nebraska. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have questions about our work.
